Fallow Deer Now Out of Season for the Summer
As of today, both male and female fallow deer are now out of season across England and Wales, marking an important transition point in the deer stalking calendar.
With fallow bucks and does now protected throughout the summer months, many stalkers and deer managers will begin turning their attention toward roe deer management, habitat work and preparing for the seasons ahead.
The closed season plays an important role in responsible deer management, allowing deer to move through the breeding and rearing period with minimal disturbance while helping maintain healthy and sustainable populations.
Although rifles may temporarily be away from the fallow woods, summer remains an important time for observation, surveying, planning and monitoring deer activity across estates and stalking ground.
At STALK-IT, we believe modern stalking and deer management are built on awareness, responsibility and good fieldcraft — values that remain just as important during the closed season as they are during active management periods.
